French Inspired Banknotes
The Banque of France has a long history of designing and printing banknotes, not just for France and her colonies, but for other countries such as Mexico, Romania, and Uruguay as well. The notes were often designed by the same artists (Duval, Serveau, Laurent, Rita, etc) that designed French notes, though they included local subjects such as agricultural exports, fishing, and mining. They all have the same distinctive style as seen in France's banknotes.
The notes in this collection were all printed by Banque de France or other French printers1.

- Where possible I've listed the actual printer of the note. I have listed the source of ex-Colonies as BdF or other French printer where I have strong reason to believe it to be correct. But for countries outside French influence, I've only listed the printer these when I've confirmed the printer via some other reference. While many other notes (from Belgium, for example) do appear to be printed in the French style, it could be that they were designed by a familiar French artist, but printed locally. I am certainly interested in receiving input toward reference material that would help document the source of any specific banknotes.
